Well House Hotel

A 1920s-era landmark hotel reimagined under the Hilton Tapestry flag.

Originally named after frontier general Anthony Wayne, who relied on Fort Hamilton as a supply base, this landmark building stands on the site of the city’s original well. The Anthony Wayne Hotel closed in May 1964 and attracted only a single bid at a sheriff’s sale. Later converted into low-income housing, years of neglect led to declining occupancy, leaving the building nearly vacant and in disrepair. Eventually, it was donated to the Ohio Preservation Alliance and, in 1995, was added to the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Hamilton Historic Civic Center Historic District. Our team was commissioned to restore the property to its original purpose as a hotel, bringing new life to this historic landmark.
