An intrusive and insensitive lift that connected the foyer to the second-floor landing dominated the foyer and disrupted the flow of the entry. In addition, original architectural features such as molding were removed to accommodate the lift. By removing the lift and restoring the detail, the foyer was restored to its original design.
The kitchen footprint was expanded by sensitively adjusting walls and openings, and new bathrooms were carefully placed to increase functionality for a modern family. A walk-in closet was added to the primary suite and the third-floor attic was adapted for additional living space.
The portico masonry was stabilized and the tile roof restored.
