Melrose Place
A welcoming home for residents in need of safe and permanent supportive housing
Melrose Place adds new Permanent Supportive Housing to Cincinnati’s historic Walnut Hills Neighborhood, providing a welcoming place for women, their children and pets to call home. The building was designed with masonry construction to compliment the neighboring 19th century historic mansions and 20th century apartment buildings. While complying with OHFA guidelines for Affordable Housing, each unit is designed comparably to market-rate apartments, giving residents a sense of permanence and home. An adjacent lot was later secured and provides an outdoor green space for families and their pets. The narrow lot and the required zoning setbacks posed a design challenge for meeting the Clients’ need for the desired number of residential units. The solution is a 4-story rectangular building containing 26 1, 2, and 3-bedroom apartments.
